Few days ago, we noticed that our baby’s gum lines are starting to have white spots.  It’s barely noticeable but as of tonight, those white spots are becoming more obvious.  His behavior has changed again.  He’s irritable now and always want to suck his fingers.  Our friend Guchie and future wife, Jaja, bought him teether.  We tried to use it and as expected.  He loves sucking it.  But after a while, he began to cry.  I think his teeth pushing through the gum line is painful.

The Teething Process

  According to the doctors, the teething process can begin as early as 3 months and will continue until a child’s third birthday.

Between four to seven months, I’m expecting my baby to have his first tooth pushing through the gum line.  The first tooth to appear, according to them, is usually the two bottom front teeth (central incisors).   Four to eight weeks later, the four front teeth (upper teeth or central  and lateral incisors) will begin to show up.  About a month later, the lower lateral incisors will appear.  After these are the molar teeth.

Do I Need To Consult His Pediatrician?

I really need your opinion here.  I know this is normal but we are a bit worried because, for other babies, tooth process should be painless.  But for my baby, it cries as if he is in pain.  Do you think, we need to consult his doctor?  Will the doctor give, something like pain relievers, to help our baby ease the pain?  I will really appreciate if you could give me advice on this.  He’s my first baby and our relatives are not around to give us advice.
